The Britax Boulevard G4 Convertible Car Seat is a premium seat suitable for birth and up. It supersedes an earlier model, the Britax Boulevard 70. The company states that the G4 seat can be considered to be among the safest car seats on the market today, thanks to Britax’s distinctive SafeCell technology. The seat is suitable for infants weighing from 5 to 65 pounds, and features a removable cushion. It is made in the United States by Britax USA and weighs a fraction under 20 pounds when fully assembled. It measures 21 by 18.5 by 26 inches in its complete form.
The Britax Boulevard scores highly when it comes to making life more convenient. Adjusting the headrest is a simple affair, while the seat is simple and straightforward to clean – an important consideration where babies are concerned! A particularly welcome feature is the provision of separate latch straps. This means that there is no need to spend time unraveling straps that have previously been threaded through the seat. Instead, you can get a secure fit, with no fuss, each and every time you need to use the seat. It can be fitted in both rear-facing and front-facing configurations without too much trouble, although reading the instructions thoroughly before you begin, and then following them to the letter, is highly recommended. Babies and toddlers of all shapes and sizes should be comfortable in the Britax Boulevard. Even those of only a few years old are generally happy in what may be their first experience of traveling sitting up. The head support does not appear to get in the way of children who are encountering such a thing for the first time. Exterior vision is excellent, meaning that children can easily see out of the car window while on the move, something that greatly contributes to their comfort and well being while on a trip. One small downside is that the Velcro holding pieces on the straps can snag slightly on some types of clothing.
Britax has long had a reputation for taking safety very seriously. The earlier G3-based model, the Britax Boulevard 70, was among the best performers of its generation in this respect, and the G4 Boulevard takes things a step farther. SafeCell technology aims to hold a seat’s inhabitant snugly and securely at all times. In an impact, they compress and help keep the center of gravity low, thereby helping to avoid dangerous forward rotation. There is also strong side impact protection featuring EPP foam to absorb energy. The main harness is a secure five-point affair that fits snugly without being overly tight and moves stress in a crash to those areas of the child’s body best able to cope with it.
As you would expect from a premium child seat like this, the Boulevard 70 is very well made. When you’re dealing with the safety and security of your child, you don’t want to skimp on quality, so to see its sturdy construction is very reassuring. The frame is made from solid metal that doesn’t feel as though it’s going to fall apart if you hit a bump in the road at speed. The seat does not feel at all flimsy, and reports from those who have used it extensively consistently suggest that it is very much built to last. There is no reason why this seat should not last your child until he or she has reached its weight limit of 65 lbs.

Material and Colors
The Britax Boulevard comes in a choice of two colors, Onyx gray and Laguna blue. Which one you choose is simply a matter of personal preference, but Onyx seems to be the more popular of the two with purchasers. This may be because of its calmer, more neutral color scheme when compared with the slightly brighter appearance of the Laguna-colored version. The seat is covered with a cotton material that is simple to clean after any spills or if dirt is accidentally brought into the car. The material used on the center of the seat is in a contrasting shade which has added dirt-repellent properties. The covers for the Britax Boulevard’s shoulder straps are made from a slightly tougher material that feels secure and robust.
